Meissner lop is a breed of rabbit which is known as a domesticated breed. These rabbits originated from Germany. But nowadays, they are rare; you can not find them easily. Two entirely different breeds gave rise to the Meissner lop rabbits. The French lop rabbit and Mini silver rabbit were crossbred as parent breeds. The development of the Meissner lop breed was started in the 20th century by Leopold Wreck. This breed is known as the official breed in the British. 

Personality

The Meissner lop rabbits have a friendly, loving, and playful personality. You can easily take them home, in backyards, with their seniors and families. They sit in your lap and enjoy your company when they are in a good mood. They like to play with kids and the other family members in the house. If you play with them in your free time, they create a good environment. Everyone likes their personality and loves spending time with them. Living around people keeps them happy and ultimately they stay in good health. They do not want to live alone. They do not require high-quality maintenance. 

Size

The Meissner lop rabbits are medium to large. These rabbits are also heavier in weight. Their weight and size are higher compared to the other rabbits. Their size may vary from 7 pounds to 10 pounds. Because of their size, they look like a large breed. They have heavy and soft fur on their body. Their hair have quite a length and may vary from 2 cm to 3 cm. The color of their fur is shimmery silver and black. The outer coat of these rabbits is very protective. They have a double coat layer on their body. 

Lifespan

The Meissner lop rabbits are well-mannered, gentle, and attractive. It would be best if you kept taking care of their health, diet, and other serious health issues. Their care plays an important role in their lifespan. They may or may not live a longer lifespan depending upon the quality of care provided to them. Their life expectancy may vary from 4 years to 5 years. You should take them to a veterinary doctor for a regular checkup if they are suffering from any disease. 

Price

The Meissner lop rabbits are very expensive. The male and female lop rabbits are the same in their cost. Their cost may range from 100 to 200 dollars. If you adopt this breed from the adoption spot their prices are very cheap. But if you want this breed from the commercial market the price range may differ. It would be best if you looked at your budget because they also require moderate maintenance. The male and female have the same features, which are very attractive. Sometimes it is hard to differentiate while purchasing. Nowadays, these breeds are very rare and only available in some markets.
